MMC 4747: Disney and the Politics of Popular Culture

Description:	As a ubiquitous form of popular culture, Disney pervades the everyday lives of most people through virtual spaces, film, television, and in the flesh. In this course, we will study a selective Disney history so as to be able to contextualize contemporary digital content, legacy media, cities and urban developments, theme parks, travel, corporate reports, and more. Using in-class screenings, discussions, readings, and writing, students will examine a wide variety of Disney media, looking at global representation, production, and audiences through an intersectional lens.
