TAMPA, Fla. (Sept. 8, 2015
) - In a ceremonious fashion, the new freshman class at USF’s Honors College embarked on the first steps in their collegiate academic journey. Marching to the beat of USF’s Herd of Thunder, President Genshaft, Provost Wilcox, USF’s Deans and numerous dignitaries joined nearly 700 students on the traditional Honors Convocation walk through the bougainvillea arcade, to the Marshall Student Center.

Dean Charles Adams led the convocation for the second year. “This is a very exciting day in the Honors College,” said Adams. “It’s a chance for everyone across campus to come together and celebrate the beginning of a new academic year.”

The Honors College is comprised of exceptional students from all areas of study at USF and is multidisciplinary in the approach to curriculum.

“I am very ready; I have been counting down the days since graduation,” said Honors College Freshman Victoria Adesso. “I was valedictorian of my high school and graduated with my associates degree; it’s been a hard journey, but I'm proud to be here.”

The enthusiasm carried on to the beat in true bull pride as all of the incoming students stepped forward into their new opportunity.

“I’ve always wanted to be a bull so this is a dream come true to me,” said Adesso. “I haven’t really looked at any other schools besides USF.”

“This is a very important step in their journey at USF,” said Adams. “They will see us in our robes and we will tell them that the next time they see us in these robes will be on graduation day, when they are leaving USF and off to further adventures.”
