TAMPA, Fla. (May 13, 2016) – Two faculty members from the USF College of Engineering have been recognized among the “Top 10 Transportation Thought Leaders in Academia” by the Eno Center for Transportation, a Washington D.C.-based nonprofit, nonpartisan organization.
Fred Mannering and Steve Polzin from USF appear on the list, which was published the week of May 9.
Mannering is a professor of civil and environmental engineering at USF, with a focus on the application of econometric and statistical methods to highway safety, transportation economics, automobile demand and travel behavior.
Polzin is director of mobility policy research at the Center for Urban Transportation Research at USF. He carries out research in mobility analysis, public transportation, travel behavior, planning process development and transportation decision-making.
According to the publication, Eno has partnered with the Council of University Transportation Centers (CUTC) to identify 10 of the most forward-looking transportation academics in the field today. The featured academics work in disciplines that vary greatly from computer science, information systems, and engineering to public policy, planning, business and design, using their resources and expertise to help solve real world transportation challenges.
