Dean James Moy, PhD, is dedicated to all aspects of the arts, ranging from music, to architecture and performing arts. Dean Moy leads the USF College of The Arts and enjoys the array of opportunities for students to express their artistic talents. The college has a research-oriented approach to all art disciplines and includes a Contemporary Arts Museum and Graphicstudio, which is world-renowned printmaking studio that hosts artists in residence.
Dean Moy arrived at USF in 2012 after spending time at Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in Halifax, Nova Scotia. His artistic vision grew out of the shapes he discovered through an electron microscope at the University of Illinois, where he worked for a bio-lab. Previously on a pre-med track following his parents’ wishes, he discovered that he enjoyed the intricacies of the art in science, shifting gears to study all elements of art.
Dean Moy’s world travels bring an incredibly diverse perspective to the College of The Arts at USF and his love for art encourages instilling a multifaceted approach to inspire all of the students that find themselves in this exciting and dynamic college environment.
