USF faculty members were recognized for their outstanding achievements Nov. 8 at the 2016 Faculty Honors and Awards Reception. The event is held each year to celebrate the teaching, research and innovation, and service successes of the university’s faculty, as well as to congratulate retiring faculty who have served the university so well.
Attendees gathered in the Gibbons Alumni Center Traditions Hall, and were welcomed by USF System President Judy Genshaft, Provost Ralph Wilcox and Senior Vice Provost Dwayne Smith.
“You should feel a special sense of pride in knowing your work has been recognized by your peers as extraordinary – embodying the high standards we all embrace,” Genshaft said in her opening remarks to faculty. “But the most meaningful aspect of the time and talent you invest is shaping the lives and careers of our students.
“You are influencing the next generations of bright minds that will help shape the future. That is a heavy responsibility, but you meet it with creativity, energy, and the utmost in scholarship.”
