As part of the Division of Human Resources’ (DHR) strategic initiatives, we are proud to announce the launch of the redesigned “Welcome to USF” new employee orientation program for Staff and Administration employees, set to go live on Monday, December 4th.
The aim of the new, robust orientation program is to immediately assimilate and immerse new employees in the USF culture and values, enhance new employee engagement, establish USF’s expectations, and reaffirm that they have made an excellent decision by choosing USF as their employer. This positive onboarding experience will increase the new employees’ level of engagement, and help them feel more welcomed, which will set the stage for early success in their new career at USF.
Key Features of the Redesigned Orientation Program:
- One-day, In-Classroom Experience: New employees will now attend orientation for one full day as opposed to one and a half days. The primary focus is on getting to know USF through interactive activities that showcase: the USF Mission, Strategic Plan and Goals, Points of Pride, History and Traditions, Preeminence and the Future, campus resources, and the many benefits they will be receiving as USF employees.
- Compliance eLearning: Required compliance training will now be delivered through online training in Canvas. New employees will need to complete the online training within their first month of employment. Critical topics that will be covered include: Diversity, Disability & Accommodation, Florida Code of Ethics, Fraud, Records & Security, External Contacts, Environmental Health & Safety, Employee Relations, and Online Resources. The elearning module is accessible any time and can be re-reviewed or accessed as a refresher. Separate lab times will be offered to employees who do not have dedicated computer access at their work stations.
- Setting the Foundation for Employee Retention and Engagement - Departmental New Employee Onboarding Checklist: Departments will now have an onboarding checklist that can be customized to assist with welcoming their new employees and ensuring that their pre-arrival, first days and first weeks go smoothly.
