Recipients recognized for their contributions to USF's research enterprise
TAMPA, FL (Oct. 25, 2011) — USF research administrators were recognized at the TRAIN® awards luncheon on Oct. 5, 2011. More than 100 people attend the luncheon, held annually to recognize those that have significantly contributed to the TRAIN® initiative by The Research Administration Improvement Network (TRAIN®), the Office of Research & Innovation and the Office of the Provost.
TRAIN® membership consists of representatives from across all areas of the USF research enterprise. The primary focus of TRAIN® is to build the research support infrastructure by enhancing the professional competencies of those who contribute to the research enterprise, implementing training and education, improving business processes and reporting, and enhancing communication within the research community.
President Judy Genshaft and Dr. Paul R. Sanberg, senior associate vice president for research & innovation, provided opening remarks. Guest speakers included Linda Peterson, university controller, Rebecca Puig, director of the Division of Sponsored Research and Jennifer Condon, deputy university controller.
Pearl Bigfeather, associate vice president for sponsored research & finance, shared highlights of accomplishments by TRAIN® over the past year and presented the certificates of recognition honoring the 2011 TRAIN® award nominees, recipients and exceptional contributors. Award recipients also received a plaque and a $500 cash award.
Nominations were open to all that contributed directly or indirectly to the research enterprise and could only be submitted by a nominator with first-hand experience of the individual's work with TRAIN®. The TRAIN® Awards Committee evaluated candidates based on exceptional contributions to the TRAIN® initiative, professional leadership and outstanding team participation.
