Bell is director of graduate programs and research and associate professor at the Zimmerman School of Advertising & Mass Communications. He is an award-winning documentary filmmaker whose primary research focuses on sports media, often where it intersects with race and gender. Bell is lead author of CTE, Media and the NFL (2019, Lexington Books), which explores the role of media in constructing chronic traumatic encephalopathy as a public health issue and a football epidemic.
