Castillo's research focuses on how to implement public health and community school approaches to removing barriers to student learning. He also investigates professional and practice issues relevant to school psychologists and co-directs the Institute for School-Community Partnerships, Integrated Services and Child Mental Health and Educational Policy -- a research and technical assistance center focused on improving educational and related services for children, youth, families and communities. Castillo's work broadly aims to support schools and their stakeholders by addressing real world problems of practice through community engaged research, implementation and evaluation efforts.
