Yavuz is broadly interested in design, analysis and application of cryptographic tools and protocols to enhance the security of computer networks and systems. His current research focuses on privacy enhancing technologies, light-weight cryptography, authentication and integrity mechanisms for internet of things and systems, security in cloud computing and efficient cryptographic protocols for critical cyber-infrastructures -- specifically aerial drones and smart-grid systems.

Kermani's research interests are fault diagnosis and tolerance in cryptography, cryptographic engineering and computer arithmetic.
