Experts Guide
-
Volinsky is an expert in thin films processing whose research focuses on how to make and test very thin layers of materials that are used in things like electronics, coatings, or solar cells -- and understanding how strong or flexible they are. He also studies irradiated materials properties and X-Ray diffraction -- how radiation changes a material’s structure and properties and the use of X-rays to analyze the internal arrangement of its atoms.
