Mauldin teaches courses on the 18th, 19th and 20th century U.S. history as well as thematic courses in environmental history, military history, legal history and food history. She is an expert on Florida's role in the American Revolution.

Rossi's research focuses on interactions between the U.S. military and civilian society, including industry. In particular, he studies U.S. military manpower procurement, including recruitment, conscription, non-citizens in the U.S. military, U.S. mobilization potential and U.S. military personnel policies.
