El-Rady's research focuses on medical mycology -- fungi that can infect humans and animals -- molecular biology, human genetics and microbiology. He can discuss how the range of pathogenic fungi is expanding, including some fungi that can cause more serious infections, particularly in people with compromised immune systems.

Breitbart is a biological oceanographer whose research interests include genomics, marine microbiology, wastewater microbiology, virology and molecular biology. She led groundbreaking research that identified the cause of the 2022 mass die-off long-spined sea urchins in the Caribbean and along Florida’s East coast.

Eswara's research focuses on staph, anthrax, endospores and antibiotic resistance. His lab studies cell division regulation and the identification of proteins unique to bacteria that could be used to develop new antibiotics for use against multi-drug resistant bacteria.
