El-Rady's research focuses on medical mycology -- fungi that can infect humans and animals -- molecular biology, human genetics and microbiology. Eswara's research focuses on staph, anthrax, endospores and antibiotic resistance. His lab studies cell division regulation and the identification of proteins unique to bacteria that could be used to develop new antibiotics for use against multi-drug resistant bacteria.
